The Issue

This summer, my life was turned upside down by the actions of the local dog catcher in Hoisington, Kansas. I was forced to get rabies shots for my very sick dog. My beautiful German Shepherd, who was in no condition to leave the house, was taken to the vet under the threat of jail time. Despite informing the vet about her illness and anxiety, she was administered the shot. Within six hours of the procedure, my husband and I were devastated as we held our dog during her tragic final moments as she seized and died in our arms.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. The dog catcher in question has repeatedly overstepped boundaries and misused her authority, impacting the lives of many pet owners in our community. She has been reportedly caught opening gates to let animals escape, leading to unwarranted stress and potentially dangerous situations for pets and owners. Furthermore, she has been seen measuring grass with a ruler to find reasons to issue tickets, and there are accounts of her issuing tickets without notifying the recipients, causing people to unknowingly face legal trouble.

This level of unprofessional conduct and abuse of power is unacceptable and is tarnishing the peace and safety of our beloved community of Hoisington. It is imperative that action is taken to rectify this situation. The city should conduct a thorough investigation into these allegations and take appropriate legal and administrative measures to ensure that such behavior does not continue.

We deserve a dog catcher who respects the rights of pet owners and acts with integrity and fairness. The trust and well-being of our community are at stake. Let us unite to call for her immediate removal and the appointment of a responsible and ethical individual to this crucial role.

Sign this petition to demand justice and protect the rights of our community and our beloved pets.
