We, the undersigned, call for the immediate termination of Miamisburg High School band teacher Steve Aylward following his statement suggesting that Charlie Kirk “had it coming” regarding his assassination. Such rhetoric is not only deeply offensive but also dangerous, promoting hate and normalizing violence.

Educators hold a position of immense influence over the next generation of leaders. Statements like this undermine the values of civility, respect, and moral responsibility that schools should uphold. Allowing such behavior to go unchecked endangers the emotional and moral development of students and sends a dangerous message that threats or harm toward political figures is acceptable.

We demand accountability to ensure that our schools remain safe, responsible, and committed to fostering future leaders grounded in respect, integrity, and ethical leadership.
