The second floor of our beloved Clemons library at the University of Virginia will be converted from a collaborative work space to an advising center in January.  The second floor of Clemons fulfills a unique need at the University (that no other space currently fulfills) by providing collaborative space for large group projects for students in all schools and of all majors.  The utility of an advising center may be helpful; however, without a replacement for Clem 2, where can large student teams work and study together through the night in a safe and central location?  We believe the second floor of Clemons should be kept as a collaborative work space.  At a minimum, the students request that an alternate location that meets the same requirements--capacity for large groups and availability throughout the night--should be provided.
