While workplace violence is on the rise, Tenet Healthcare is laying off the Detroit Medical Center police authority in an attempt to cut costs and save themselves money. The police officers work side by side with medical staff to keep patients, visitors, and employees safe. Without our police officers on patrols we expect violence and safety issues to soar. Everybody in the hospital will be at risk.

We need to keep our officers on patrols. Our officers are exceptionally trained and they are familiar with our patient population. Our officers intervene and de-escalate violent behavior so that no one gets harmed. We see a lot of psychiatric patients and violent crime patients at the Detroit Medical Center. It is imperative to have those police officers by the side of our medical staff. They are the reason medical professionals can provide the outstanding care that they do.

Please help us keep our Detroit Medical Center Police Authority personnel on duty. They are so much more than just police officers. These men and women are our friends and family. They have saved the lives of numerous patients and coworkers. They are our heroes!!!
