Temporarily take down The Economist paywall so everyone can read EU referendum articles

Dear Zanny Minton Beddoes (Editor-in-Chief, The Economist),

For the biggest decision in a generation, the mainstream media and both campaign teams are using increasingly simplistic, emotional and fabricated arguments.

We need more high quality information out there to help everyone make an informed decision. Unfortunately, well researched articles about the referendum on The Economist website are sitting behind a paywall so they aren't being shared widely enough on social media.

The Economist articles explaining why most economists think we should vote remain need to be freely available. For the next few days, take down the wall and talk to the whole nation.

We know from previous elections that thousands of undecided voters take to the internet just before they vote to look for information. An open Economist could help convince undecided voters to choose remain.

Boris, Murdoch & co have been fuelling mass ignorance, particularly around immigration. We need informed voices like The Economist to reach as wide an audience as possible.

This will cost The Economist little to implement, and will win it friends and potential subscribers.
