Temporarily Rename Hyndburn to Hindburn in Honor of a Young Gaza Victim

The Issue

I reside in a small town called Accrington, nestled within the Borough of Hyndburn. We live comfortably and safely, with plenty to eat and drink, free from harassment. However, 2,733 miles away in Gaza, Palestine, life is starkly different. For 75 years now, people there have lived under an oppressive occupation. The siege on Gaza has lasted nearly two decades - it's the Israeli army that decides whether they can enter or leave, if they eat or not and if they have access to water and medicines. They even decide how long they can electricity each day and whether they have access to the Internet.

Since the 7th October the Israel army has bombed and attacked the people of Gaza. Bombed using our bombs, supplied by our government and supported by our leading politicians. Over 30,000 people have been killed. One such victim was a beautiful six-year-old girl named Hind who was brutally murdered by Israeli forces along with members of her family and two Red Crescent ambulance drivers who tried to rescue her. Hind and her family were travelling when their car came under fire from Israeli soldiers. There was no reason for it. All the adults in the car were killed. Hind and her 15 year old sister were the only survivors. Her sister phoned the Red Crescent for help. Whilst she was speaking she was also shot by an Israeli sniper and collapsed on Hind. Hind, now traumatised, alone and terrified, pleaded with the Red Crescent to come and rescue her. She told them she was frightened. She said, ' it's getting dark, I'm afraid of the dark, please come quickly'. The Red Crescent informed the Israeli Army of the situation and obtained permission for safe passage to rescue Hind. Hind saw the ambulance approaching, it was only a few hundred yards away. Finally she would be saved from this nightmare. Then the Israeli soldiers attacked the ambulance and killed the two paramedics on board. Hind was alone again. Some time later she was also murdered. Her only crime - she was Palestinian.

Hind is not unique, over 12,000 innocent children have beem massacred in Gaza during  this genocide which has lasted over 4 months. This petition seeks to honor Hind's memory by temporarily renaming our borough from Hyndburn to Hindburn.

This act would be more than symbolic; it would raise awareness about the plight of innocent civilians like Hind caught up in conflicts far beyond their control or understanding. It would also serve as a reminder that every child deserves safety and peace regardless of where they are born.

Let us stand together for justice for all children around the world starting right here at home by signing this petition urging our local councilors to temporarily rename Hyndburn as 'Hindburn' and erecting a permanent memorial to remember Hind and all the children murdered during this genocide.
