Improve cell coverage in Kingston East

Improve cell coverage in Kingston East
The Issue
Over the last ten years the population of the east side of Kingston, Ontario has grown significantly. At the same time, cell tower coverage of the area has barely changed. At this time the "big three" providers have only three cell towers located on this side of town, compared to 44 towers on the west side (data from Industry Canada).
Consequently, there are large areas of Kingston East that have weak or non-existent coverage. Pandemic work-from-home requirements have exacerbated an already challenging situation, with larger numbers of mobile customers requiring reliable, high-speed service for work and school. There is one additional sub-division already under construction in the area, with more to follow. The demand for cell services will continue to increase for some time.
We call on Bell, Telus, and Rogers to take the steps required to improve cell coverage in Kingston East given the current density of housing, and planning for continued growth in the area.
