Here is a new version of the wording? Do you guys think it's better?

There is a deep-seated problem within the Canadian healthcare system - and we need your help to solve it.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of digital healthcare skyrocketed among Canadian doctors. Now more than ever, medical professionals rely on digital tools and technologies to provide the best care possible for their patients.

But often, doctors are blocked from accessing the digital medical records they need to make the most out of these new tools.

This problem can largely be attributed to companies like TELUS Health, who have built “Data Silos” to block third-party access to data. Data Silos have a negative effect on the entire Canadian healthcare system.

By blocking access to medical information, patients, doctors, and medical staff are unable to enjoy the full benefits of new healthcare apps, leading to a general lack of innovation in our healthcare system.

The outcome is an industry filled with outdated technology, leading to longer wait times and a lower standard of care for patients.

It’s time for this to change.

Right now, TELUS Health has the opportunity to become a platform for innovation; a progressive leader in an industry that is in desperate need of disruptors.

That’s why we’re calling on patients and doctors to ask TELUS for one simple thing: Please allow patients and doctors to connect digital health tools of their choosing to the medical records you store.

There are many benefits to this action:

First, by allowing third-party connections to their EMR systems, TELUS will be giving patients access to innovative apps that will improve the quality of healthcare they receive.

Second, TELUS will be protecting the right of doctors to use whichever medical tools they see fit, allowing them to provide the highest standard of care possible in their practices.

Finally, TELUS will directly benefit from monetizing a platform for entrepreneurs to build and innovate on.  As we have seen with other household-name companies like Apple, platform hosting can be a massive driver of market share in the software industry.

The advantages are clear. It is now up to TELUS to decide whether they want to encourage innovation - like Apple and other tech giants - or shut themselves off from disruptors as the industry grows around them.

But they don’t have to make this decision alone. As a patient, doctor, or medical professional, your voice matters.

Do you think TELUS should let doctors access their medical data with the apps of their choice? If yes, we strongly encourage you to sign this petition and let TELUS know your thoughts.

Your time and support are greatly appreciated,
