Possumdown is the fur from New Zealand brushtail possums who are commonly trapped in steel-jaw leg-hold traps or poisoned by cyanide. Their fur is then pulled off their bodies and used to make sweaters and accessories.

Video documentation shows New Zealand trappers using hammers to crush the heads of terrified trapped possums, shooting them multiple times, and slitting the throats of babies after tearing them away from their dead poisoned mothers. New Zealand’s $100 million/year possumdown industry is now trying to expand into the U.S. through unsuspecting consumers.

By selling possumdown products, Zpacks is supporting an industry rife with animal cruelty. Eliminating two imported products, which contribute nothing to their reputation as a manufacturer of quality outdoor gear, is a simple request that will help curb this cruel industry.
