Tell Xperi to bring TiVo back to life!
The Issue
Remember TiVo? It was so popular back in its heyday! Unfortunately fewer of us remember just how much of a pioneer it was. TiVo changed the way we watched television. They also paved the way for streaming companies like Netflix, and we should be thanking them for helping start the streaming revolution.
However, there's something big missing with many of the streaming, cable, and satellite providers nowadays: personality. TiVo was all about personification for each viewer's entertainment needs. Now it's all about giving customers what they need but at a corporate cost. Long gone are the days of platforms that prioritized what you want, when you want, and how you want it. In their place came an invasion of streaming services that lack the idea of putting the viewer first. They mainly want money and don't care as much about us individually. Corporate culture has swept over the entire globe, and with it comes the fact that companies care more about their own business than their customers. They've "sold out" to satisfy a mainstream audience at large, but these corporations don't quite realize that we all have individual tastes. They don't cater to an individual human the way TiVo was able to do. People became addicted to TiVo because of its friendliness and ability to adapt to a new viewer. It was almost like a cat or dog hiding inside your television set. Corporations don't feel like companions. They're like pests, constantly begging you to take advantage of new offers and hooking you in to instantly let you down. Customers are constantly convinced by a corporate product's marketing and instantly regret supporting it. It's a method companies impose to put more spotlight on themselves and not the customer.
If we keep falling for everything that a vast majority of the streaming and cable corporations are trying to do, we will continue to feel awful about these decisions. This could pile up so much that people would eventually stop paying for these services, and we don't want that. What we should really want is the device that tried to take over the world by letting us enjoy our favorite shows while staying personable. We should want the ability to skip whatever corporate nonsense we choose. We should want a face of the brand that perfectly represents how it's your best companion and not your biggest pest (a cool and cute mascot, if you will). If you really want a better entertainment experience with little to no annoying and unnecessary interruptions, let Xperi know how you feel and explain how much we need TiVo more than ever!
