Deflock WylieWylie, TX, United States
Aug 10, 2026

Wylie's current Flock contract runs through October 13, 2026 — and it renews automatically for two more years unless the City sends Flock a written notice of non-renewal at least 30 days before it ends.

Council doesn't need a legal battle or a buyout to end this. Under the contract's own terms, a notice of non-renewal sent before September 13 ends the agreement on October 13 — at no cost to taxpayers. Miss the window, and Wylie is locked in until October 2028.

Leaving mid-term is expensive by design: when Guadalupe County terminated this month, Flock demanded roughly $85,000 in exit fees it had originally promised to waive. The cheapest exit Wylie will ever have is the one available right now.

Wylie City Council can end this contract for free — but only until September 13, 2026. One written notice of non-renewal, sent before that date, ends the agreement on October 13 at zero cost. Ask the Council to do so.
