Wilson County teachers can no longer afford to live and work in Wilson County. Many are making the tough choice to leave their jobs and students to teach in neighboring counties because Wilson County teacher salaries are not competitive. There are hundreds of open job postings to prove how dire Wilson County Schools staffing needs have become. 

Despite all of this, the Wilson County Commissioners budget committee declined to pass an additional 5% raise requested by the Wilson County School District in the Needs Assessment. To give our teachers this much deserved raise, we'd need to raise property taxes by $0.07. On a $400k property it would be an additional $70 per year in property tax. 

Sign this petition (*please comment with your County District*), share it, call your County Commissioner, and show up to the County Commissioners meeting on June 19th to voice support for our teachers and the 7 cent property tax increase. 

If we want to continue having great teachers, great schools, and educated students it's time to act. Wilson County is what we make it!
