This coming weekend, Friday – Sunday, May 13th - 15th, 2022, the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena is hosting, once again, the Tripoli Shrine Circus.  We want UWM to know that we do NOT support the circus and that we want them to cancel the shows.

We would also like the City of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin to pass new legislation, as so many other U.S. cities and states have, that prohibits the use of exotic animals in circuses. It’s well into the 21st century and time to stop the barbarism.

Circuses that use wild animals are by definition cruel. The Tripoli circus is no exception. Their trainers use bull hooks—a sharp steel-tipped weapon, whips, electric prods, muzzles, and other painful tools of the trade to force animals to perform painful, confusing, and even frightening tricks. Examples are balancing on balls, spinning on pedestals, walking on two legs, riding bicycles, and jumping through fire hoops. Tigers are terrified of fire.

"CIRCUS acts that use wild animals are inhumane, plain and simple. Animals do not perform because they choose this way of life. They have no choice—they’re beaten until they comply."  The Humane Society of the United States

Please sign this petition so we can share it with UWM, the city, and the state, to tell them that our community does NOT support animal cruelty. We can make a difference, affect positive change for animals, and continue the ripple effect across the nation.
