Tyson: Stop Starving Birds
ACT NOW: Call Case Farms & urge it to give “nose bones” the boot!
Animal Outlook
12 Sept 2017 —
UPDATE: Prompted by your calls, Compassion Over Killing (COK) has just received a statement from Case Farms confirming that it does not use cruel "nose bones"! Case Farms is the 13th of the top 20 poultry producers in the US to have confirmed to COK that it is not using or is phasing out this practice in the aftermath of COK's investigation of Tyson Foods. ---------------------------------------------------------------- JOIN US TODAY: Make a quick, polite call using our sample message below to urge Case Farms to take a stand against cruel “nose bones”! Because today’s “broiler” birds are bred to grow so unnaturally large, so quickly, that many can no longer walk by two months old, dull plastic “nose bones” are stabbed through the nostrils of male “breeder” birds to restrict their food intake and keep them alive long enough to breed. But since COK’s Tyson investigation exposed “nose boning,” a worker has been convicted of animal cruelty for using “nose bones,” and now, more than half of the top 20 chicken producers in the US have confirmed to COK that they’re eliminating or are not using these cruel devices. Thanks to you, after #8 poultry producer Peco Foods was recently flooded with calls--including by journalist Jane Velez-Mitchell--the company stated via email that it does not use cruel “nose bones”! However, #14 producer, Case Farms, still remains silent. Please join us TODAY, September 12, for a nationwide call-in day urging Case to make a public statement against “nose bones.” Make a quick call to 704-528-4501 (press 0 to reach the operator) with a polite message like this: “Hi, my name is _____ and I’m calling as a concerned consumer to ask whether Case Farms uses outdated, cruel “nose bones” in its broiler breeders. A former Tyson employee was recently convicted of cruelty for using “nose bones,” and more than half of the top 20 producers, including Tyson, Perdue, and Pilgrim’s, have already confirmed to Compassion Over Killing that they are phasing out or do not use them. Will Case join them and issue a public statement?” Don’t forget to email info@cok.net with any response you get from the company, and please share this link on social media after you call: http://bit.ly/CallCaseFarms
