An update from No Desert Data Center:
Hello Everyone,
WE DID IT!!!
Tucson, we stood firm in our position, protected our community, water, and land and kicked Beale / Amazon right out of town. In seven very long weeks, we came together, built new relationships, held a strong vision, and were ultimately successful. Thanks to each and every one of you for doing your part and contributing to what will ultimately sustain life for future generations. And gratitude to the Mayor & Council for listening to community voices and making the unanimous decision as well as a number of other organizations who did the work, too. It took all of us.
Let this be a moment to recognize that when we come together, anything is possible. Even pushing a mega-corporation with billions away. This is people power.
Join us in celebrating this moment -- below are some recent articles and our own press release from after the Wednesday study session.
And, this isn't the end. We know that a multiplicity of threats already exist and loom on the horizon in Tucson and beyond. The No Desert Data Center Coalition is energized to reflect on what we've learned and put energy toward these efforts. We'll be reaching out to you all again soon with our next steps, and hope you'll continue to be a part of ongoing collective effort to protect this place we call home.
Big love to you, Tucson <3
