Tell Trump: No $45M Military Parade While Essential Services Are Being Gutted
The Issue
President Trump wants to spend up to $45 million on a flashy military parade in Washington, D.C., timed to fall on his birthday, while claiming it’s about Flag Day and military pride. But make no mistake: this is taxpayer-funded vanity at a time when millions of Americans are being asked to "tighten their belts."
Just weeks ago, the Trump administration gutted federal departments, laid off tens of thousands of workers, and slashed essential government services — all in the name of "saving money." Families lost jobs, communities lost resources, and federal workers were told to do more with less. Now, suddenly, there's room in the budget for tanks in the streets and fighter jets overhead?
This parade won't just cost millions, it could directly cut into the Army’s training budget, weakening the very readiness we’re supposedly celebrating.
We all respect our troops. But true respect means funding their health care, mental health services, housing, and support — not marching them through D.C. for a political spectacle. It means honoring veterans with actions, not empty symbolism.
We demand that Congress and the Department of Defense cancel this wasteful parade and reinvest that $45 million where it belongs: in the people, the programs, and the public services that actually make America strong.
