While the world faces real crises — war, displacement, hunger, rising authoritarianism, and climate instability — President Trump is demanding an investigation into… a stopped escalator, a dark teleprompter, and a bad audio feed at the United Nations?

This is not leadership. It’s a distraction.

During his visit to the UN General Assembly in New York, Trump claimed that alleged “triple sabotage” was at play after a series of technical glitches disrupted his appearance. He and his team now want to launch a full investigation into whether someone intentionally caused the problems — citing jokes made by UN staffers and a report from a British newspaper.

But let’s be clear: this isn’t a scandal. It’s not even newsworthy compared to the urgent issues facing the nation and the world.

We, the undersigned, are calling on President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz to:

• Drop the formal investigation into these minor UN mishaps
• Stop wasting diplomatic energy on ego-driven theatrics
• Refocus on real global priorities like ceasefires, peace negotiations, refugee aid, and food insecurity
   

World leaders come to the UN to work on peace and progress — not to litigate escalator malfunctions. This kind of posturing not only undermines the seriousness of U.S. diplomacy, it distracts from the very real challenges people around the world are begging their governments to address.

Let’s stop inflating petty grievances into global dramas.
