Tell Trump: Don’t Cut Aid to NATO Allies — Russia Is Watching

The Issue

Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania—three democratic NATO allies on the front line of Russian aggression—are urging the U.S. Congress to uphold funding for the Baltic Security Initiative, a key military support program now at risk of being slashed.

In a joint letter, the Baltic nations asked Congress to preserve this funding in the FY2026 Defense Appropriations Bill, after the U.S. Department of Defense indicated it would cut Section 333 security assistance for all European countries to zero.

These cuts come as Russian drones have violated Polish airspace, and as the Baltic nations dramatically increase their own defense spending—some to over 5% of GDP—in response to the ongoing war in Ukraine and threats at their borders.

We, the undersigned, call on the U.S. Congress to:

  • Fully fund the Baltic Security Initiative in the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act
  • Reject proposed cuts to Section 333 military assistance for NATO-aligned European states
  • Reaffirm the United States’ commitment to Eastern European partners facing continued threats from Russian military activity.

Pulling back security assistance now would send the wrong message to both our allies and our adversaries.

The Baltic States are not just military partners—they are essential voices in the defense of democracy, regional stability, and NATO’s credibility.

Sign this petition to urge Congress to uphold its commitments and keep the Baltic Security Initiative fully funded.
