Tell the US Department of Agriculture & the FDA to investigate disease-laden factory farms

The Issue

According to the International Livestock Research Institute, the intense confinement of animals on factory farms is the primary culprit for more than 60% of transmissible human pathogens.

Epidemics like SARS, avian flu, and swine flu (or H1N1) can all be tracked back to factory farms where animals are given high doses of antibiotics to fight infections spread in cramped quarters.

The overuse of such antibiotics has given rise to more antibiotic-resistant pathogens.
