The United Nations is a publicly funded intergovernmental institution, dependent on public taxes and entrusted to steward sensitive global data. They must be accountable to the people, not beholden to techno-colonial and surveillance agendas. 

Tell WFP not to renew their partnership with Palantir.

The world´s largest humanitarian agency - the UN´s World Food Programme (WFP) - has partnered with Palantir, a controversial US and allied military contractor and data analytics firm, since 2017. WFP uses Palantir´s Foundry software primarily to optimise its supply chain. The partnership is poised to renew this month.

Leaked audit report raised major privacy concerns.

A new investigation by Jessica Le Masurier at France24 and PassBlue, published on the 7th of August, reveals that a leaked August´25 audit report raised “High Priority” concerns about WFP´s partnership with Palantir - regarding privacy, risk management and the lack of proper guidelines and policy on the same. Despite these findings, and mounting criticism of the partnership, France24 and PassBlue report that a new five-year contract is in the process of finalisation and will be signed in August 2026.

WFP is scaling their partnership with Palantir.

In June 2026 Tech for Bad published a report on the partnership demonstrating that despite widespread global pushback against the company "WFP are instead growing, scaling and “investing heavily” in their enterprise data platform provided by Palantir Foundry".

The report tracks the expanding scope of Palantir´s platform within WFP´s data ecosystem, outlines the UN principles and guidelines the partnership breaches and calls on the WFP to end its partnership with Palantir.

Palantir has played a key role in the Israeli-US genocide in Gaza and other military interventions, and is used by ICE to track, target and deport migrants. Palantir CEO, Alex Karp, positions the company as "value driven" and frequently touts the company´s motivations as American (and “Western”) superiority, technological dominance and controlling violence.

Tech for Bad argues that "When hunger is “being increasingly exploited as a weapon of war” WFP must reassess whether embedding the software of a complicit US and allied-military contractor within their data ecosystem - pertaining to the supply of food - compromises them."

WFP´s poor privacy, data protection, accountability and transparency standards.

In May, WFP experienced a data breach affecting the personal information of 600,000 households in Gaza. WFP have claimed this breach is not connected to their use of Palantir´s software yet have declined to provide detailed technical details, and have reopened the hacked self-registration portal prior to the conclusion and publication of an “independent investigation.”

Hence, WFP´s partnership with Palantir is situated within an environment of subpar privacy, data protection, accountability and transparency mechanisms.
