On September 24th, 2024, at around noon, Englewood High school was placed on a code yellow, or a lockout. About 30 minutes later that lockout turned into a LOCKDOWN. 

For the next 30 minutes, 4 people were roaming the school searching to harm us as over 1,700 students feared for their lives. We were then placed on another code yellow and told that the school was safe. Not even 10 minutes later, we were back on a code red until 2:00 EST. Thankfully, no one was shot but multiple people were badly injured and had to receive medical attention and/or be hospitalized due to tranpling and trying to escape by jumping fences in fear that this was their last resort. Not only have people been physically injured, but this event has put severe stress on students and their parents as no one knew who was going to make it home.

Englewood HS’ staff is downplaying this event and claiming there was “no threat” and the school is “safe” to parents and news outlets, but this isn’t true nor is this the first time. Englewood has been invaded twice before this incident and has been on constant lockdowns for a week before this happened. Not only that, but to misinform news stations and our parents of our “safety” after having 2 lockdowns in 2 hours, video proof of commotion, and K9s and police searching for someone, its immoral and it simply doesn’t add up. There has been no increase in security or safety and the students at EHS have vocalized feeling uncomfortable and unsafe at school. We, as students deserve to have our voices heard and the truth be spoken. EHS has LIED about what really happened today.
