Tell the TOSI Town Council they have gone too far with Proposed STR Regulations

Tell the TOSI Town Council they have gone too far with Proposed STR Regulations
The Issue
Fellow SIPOA & Bohicket Marina Village (BMV) Owners,
Reason for Signing
This petition was created for ALL residents and property owners within the boundaries of the Town of Seabrook Island to express their opinion against the proposed short term, rental cap and associated nuisance regulations being discussed by the town’s STR Special Committee.
Who is impacted
If you are a SIPOA or BMV property owner then you may or may not be aware that the TOSI has a special committee to Study STRs within the jurisdiction of TOSI. Short-Term Rental Study Every Property owner WILL be impacted by some of the proposals to potentially cap STRs. As well the assorted list of nuisance regulations violations and fines that will effect every Seabrooker in the town.
What is at stake
- Potential over regulation of petty nuisance topics being discussed by the committee (Parking, garbage cans, LSV, drones, bicycles, and beach gear, etc etc…)
- Disenfranchisement of 60% of SIPOA & BMV property owners who are not full time TOSI residents.
- Right to do with your property as you please...Rent or Not Rent.
- Protecting ability to off-set rising costs of ownership on Seabrook.
- Possible devastating impacts to SIPOA and BMV property values.
- Potential Deed Restrictions placed on all SIPOA & BMV Properties.
- Map of STRs on Seabrook (with Contact Data)
- Let TOSI know your thoughts on STR Caps being discussed.
Why is now the time to act
Although the TOSI Special Committee has completed their work. You can still be heard.
Whether you are for caps or against Caps on short term rentals within the boundaries of the town of Seabrook Island.
UPDATE: The Special Committee on Short term Rentals completed their work on the issue their recommendations are located here. Committee Recommendations to Seabrook Island Town Council (Issued June 24, 2024). During the recent TOSI council working session Town Council Work Session 07-11-2024 the Mayor set aside much of the hard work done by the committee in favor of his own private agenda. This begs the question. Why go to the trouble to begin with on the matter. Before the draft ordinance is proposed in a public hearing there is still time to make your voice heard.
The three leaders you should focus your attention to is TOSI Mayor Kleinman & Councilman May (pictured below) and Councilman Weis or reach out to any of the other TOSI town councilmen and/or town Administrator with the (email links below)to have your voice heard.
- Mayor Kleinman
- Councilman Kortvelesy
- Councilman May (STR Special Committee Chair)
- Councilman Weis
- Councilman Hamilton
- Town Administrator Cronin
