Tell the State Senate: Protect North Carolina’s Air and Water from Pollution
Right now, the North Carolina State Senate is considering a bill that would make it illegal for local governments to protect the air we breathe and water we drink. If the NC State Senate passes a bill called the Regulatory Reform Act, or S612, local governments would not be allowed to make their own environmental regulations. That means that plants and manufacturing facilities could avoid landfill requirements and get rid of harmful waste without anyone monitoring to make sure it wasn’t seeping into North Carolina’s air or waterways.
We can’t just let that happen. If you want to make sure that Charlotte’s government has the power to protect our air and water, please sign our petition opposing this terrible bill now!
As a constituent, I urge you to protect North Carolina’s air and water by rejecting the Regulatory Reform Act, Senate Bill 612.
This dangerous bill would allow power plants and manufacturing facilities to avoid landfill requirements and get rid of harmful waste without anyone monitoring to make sure it wasn’t seeping into North Carolina’s air or waterways.
Our local governments need the power to hold corporate polluters accountable and protect our families against toxic waste that can poison the air we breathe and water we drink. Please stand up for our health and our environment by voting NO on S612.
