Whether you signed this petition when it started 2 1/2 years ago or just this week, I want to personally thank each of you for your support of Penn State's student athletes and of Joe Paterno. We are now 7,500 strong, but I know that's only skimming the surface of those who believe the NCAA overreached in its vindictive punishment of our beloved university. Within the past few weeks, we've seen the effects of their undue sanctions as our team struggles nobly on the field in the face of a stacked deck. We've learned that the NCAA itself thought the sanctions were probably not enforceable, but that they "bluffed" the university into accepting them anyway with the looming threat of the Death Penalty. We are beginning to see the veil of the Freeh Report pulled away to reveal the influence that the NCAA and possibly the Big Ten exerted on the so-called "independent" investigation. We've heard the now-former Governor of Pennsylvania [and former Trustee] state that Joe Paterno's firing was wrong. And we've been given new NCAA guidelines for reporting abuse, which are precisely the actions Joe took. The NCAA is on the ropes and we need to keep the pressure up, demanding transparency and full disclosure. Please take a minute to spread the word...Post the petition to Facebook...Email it to friends whose opinions may have changed in light of new information... The wins happened. Most of us were there to witness and be thrilled by many of them. It's time to restore the Penn State and Paterno legacy of Success with Honor and return those wins to the student athletes who earned them on the playing field.
