Tell the Heart Attack Grill: Stop Perpetuating America's Obesity Epidemic

The Issue

More than 64 percent of American adults are overweight or obese. It's a public health crisis that's reached epidemic proportions, and everyone from doctors to government officials to non-profits have been working round-the-clock to come up with solutions.

At the same time, the Heart Attack Grill, a restaurant in Chandler, Arizona, is undermining these efforts. The restaurant is offering free "Double Bypass Burgers" and "Flatliner Fries" to anyone weighing in at more than 350 pounds. The restaurant also mocks the severity of America's obesity epidemic through its promotional ads.

Consumers can do their part to battle the bulge. Tell Heart Attack Grill's owner, Jon Basso, to immediately discontinue its offer to give free burgers and fries to patrons weighing more than 350 pounds.
