The Issue

Right now the city has a municipal court specialty docket that people end up who are criminalized for existing without the most basic human necessities, housing. That is if they don't end up sentenced and do their time in the traumatizing carceral system at the Madison County Jail. Typically participants are inside the jail and let out as participation in the Unsheltered Housing Program available through this specialty docket.

The City of Huntsville has the ability to provide bus fair to these people at no cost to the city. The buses run regardless. Please tell your local official that you would like our city to provide people participating in these programs with something as bare minimum as transportation that will help them get to work, coordinate with city care providers, get to a shelter, go to the store to purchase living expenses etc.

Thank you
