Tell the City - No Bus Hub in the Parking Lot between the 800 NH Lofts & 888 Lofts

The Issue

The Lawrence City Commission is going to make a decision this coming Tuesday October 8 that may lead to the closure of this city parking lot, home of the Downtown Lawrence Farmer’s Market, and conversion to the Downtown Bus Hub.

This site should be rejected for the bus hub because:

  1. It sits between two apartment buildings - less than 10 feet from residents' balconies.
  2. Residents will be exposed to deadly diesel exhaust, noise and light pollution, and their negative health effects.
  3. This is hypocritical, since the city recently rejected two other locations because it “heard substantial neighborhood feedback that Downtown Station should not border residential properties”;
  4. The parking lot is often full or close to it, and closing it will likely increase parking on residential East Lawrence streets;
  5. .It will displace the Lawrence Downtown Farmers Market.

If you would like the City Commission to reject this location for a bus hub, please sign this petition.
