Petition updateSave Moreton Bay - Stop Toondah Harbour developmentTogether, Team Toondah tackles Walker wetland wipeout

The level of community outrage and determination to stop governments and corporations from making Australia the only country to remove part of a Ramsar wetland for private development is unprecedented.

It's so inspiring to see such a huge community backlash against a development we should never have had to fight for and a decision our elected officials should be ashamed of. This is public land with critically endangered shorebirds, seagrass, mangroves, koalas and dugongs.

Thankfully this backlash is proving political poison for the project's proponents. We now have a louder voice in Parliament (Greens, Teals and Senator Pocock) and there's hope Labor's new Environment Minister, Tanya Plibersek will act with integrity and save Toondah.

Please see below more details about political and community action to save Toondah and links to community web and social media pages.

Greens Toondah actions
Thank you to Greens Leader in the Senate, Senator, Larissa Waters for exposing the Toondah travesty in a recent Senate Environment hearing.

Senator Water's questioning revealed the Environment Department has not briefed the new Minister on the history of the project, they had no intention of raising Toondah Harbour at next month's Ramsar conference, and a member of the community or other party could make an application for the development to be reconsidered with new information on the 'significant impacts' of the project.

All eight elected Greens from all three levels of government recently signed a joint letter to the Minister asking Minister Plibersek to reconsider the development - you can read it at https://bit.ly/3UjqHiz

Queensland Green, Member for Maiwar, Michael Berkman MP also shone a light on transparency. He questioned in Estimates where to draw the line between when a behind closed doors meeting between Queensland Premier, Anastasia Palasczcuk, Lang Walker and registered lobbyist, Graham Richardson is or isn't lobbying -  https://fb.watch/gwLz7ZBnRj/

The Premier replied 'that was just an overview of his property portfolio in Queensland. There was no lobbying that took place. He was not asking me to do anything at all.'
