As a long time consumer of Square Enix's video games, and an aspiring creative writer who wishes to someday join them in developing more blockbuster games in the future, I seriously urge you all to help me convince the company to abandon all their NFT-related business plans.

What are NFTs?

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are digital, intangible assets into which large money are invested, similar to how stocks can build up value and be sold in the stock market.

Why are NFTs not a good idea?

In addition to NFTs making the purchases of certain products more complicated than absolutely necessary, the creation of them takes up a lot of energy and generates carbon dioxide emissions, which are terrible for the environment.

What is my (the petition creator's) conclusion?

As the first Square Enix title I ever played, one of their most outstanding projects, and one of my personal favorites, Final Fantasy VII has an ongoing impact on my beliefs and such. Environmentalism is among the it's core themes, and by considering and incorporating the use of NFTs in their future projects, Square Enix is committing a grave insult to the pro-environment stance of the game that resonates with so many people and touched their hearts*.

My disdain is not directed at the company itself, or any other similar entities, but at any NFT-related business practices being carried out at the expense of our planet. If anyone wishes to still buy Square Enix products (preferably those that do not require NFTs), I would dare not judge you, for we are all human beings. But I must still urge whomever I can, through this petition or otherwise, to reconsider the use of NFTs and convince the rest of the world to stop using them.

For the sake of our planet, and for the love of God, NO MORE NFTS!!!
