The city of Saint Charles, Illinois is considering signing a 20-year extension of our current electrical power generation contract with IMEA.  Here are the facts:

• IMEA relies heavily on coal for their power generation.
• Technology associated with power generation and the power grid is changing at a rapid pace.
• The city is strongly considering signing a contract extension without getting any competitive bids from other power companies.
• The IMEA contract doesn't expire until 2035.
• Per the contract we don't need to decide on an extension until 2030.
• The 2030 decision deadline matches the industry standard. 
• The contract extension is worth over $800,000,000.  
• This financially and environmentally impactful decision will affect every citizen and business through 2055.
• IMEA has offered no financial incentives for St. Charles to renew the contract early.

Because of the above facts let's tell the City Council to SLOW DOWN and not sign the contract extension 5 to 6 years before they need to.

During this time the city can get quotes from all viable alternate power sources in an effort to lower our costs and increase our percentage of green power sources.

We are not asking for any money to be donated.
