Hello Petition Supporters,
My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about.
I reached out to the Office of Water Resources at the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) to better understand why wetlands fines were imposed on this land parcel and what steps are required to raise concerns or opposition.
RIDEM staff explained that in order for the agency to formally review the issue, interested parties must schedule a public records file review related to the property address or the company involved. This file review is the mechanism RIDEM uses to examine permitting history, compliance records, and enforcement actions, and it is the necessary first step before the agency can consider concerns about how the fines were applied.
📝 Schedule a File Review (Required Step)

To prepare for or support a file review, RIDEM also shared the following resources:
- 🔍 Wetlands Online Permit Search (for applications received after May 5, 2025):
- 📁 Historic Wetlands Permit Search (for applications received prior to April 17, 2025):
RIDEM emphasized that scheduling this file review is what allows their office to review the issue in detail, and it is the appropriate path for those seeking clarity, accountability, or to formally raise opposition.
I’ll continue monitoring this issue and will share updates if RIDEM provides further guidance or responses.
