Reddit under pressure from the FBI has removed darknet subreddits in recent years after a string of high profile arrest; however, others remain. These subreddits are platforms for blatant drug deals, romanticizing drug use and hosting links to dealers.

Reddit cannot hide behind 'free and open internet comes first.' This is different, because it's illegal. These forums aren't for dissenting opinions, or are they protected by the first amendment, but are forums where people are getting hurt and it can be prevented if Reddit takes them down.
