Maryland Delegate Sam Arora, a Democrat who initially was a cosponsor of legislation in the state that would legalize marriage equality and recognize civil rights for same-sex couples, has now said that he's unsure how he'll vote on marriage equality legislation in Maryland in 2012. Del. Arora could be the deciding vote on this issue.
Send Del. Arora a message that his support of marriage equality in the state of Maryland is essential. He shouldn't turn back on his original promise to constituents.
Supporting marriage equality is the right thing to do for the state of Maryland, and will go a long way toward bridging the equality gap that currently exists for same-sex couples in your state.
Please don't disappoint your LGBT constituents, or the progressive voices that helped you win election. In many ways this is the civil rights issue of our time, and your vote on this issue will be remembered for a long time to come.
Thank you for your time.
