Good evening!
I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to this petition. When I began this petition, I was an outraged alumnus—I couldn’t believe no one was talking about it, except for a handful of people in town! Now, thanks to you, we’ve gathered over 800 signatures. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart!
The vast majority of these signatures, by ZIP code, are current Lyme/Old Lyme residents. We’ve also heard from alumni, music teachers, and even music professors throughout the country. Impressive!
The message is clear: this plan does not work for LOL Schools, and it’s not acceptable to compromise the quality of our music program.
Our deadline is fast approaching. Hopefully, it will mean victory for this campaign. (If they continue to table the issue, we will see them in May, too.)
In less than 48 hours, I will be speaking to the Region 18 Board of Education, and presenting them with a binder. That binder is going to contain our petition, signatures, and public comments.
This is the final push—the last chance to make a difference, and we need all the help we can get!
In the next 24 hours, I want you to share this petition one last time with your friends, family, and neighbors. Get it on Facebook, Instagram, or whichever social media you use. Text the link to your friends from high school, your parents, your siblings, anyone you know in town.
In about 24 hours, I’ll be printing the signatures to prepare for Wednesday’s meeting. Any signatures gathered after 8 PM on April 1st might not make it to print.
And if you’re local? I would love to see you on Wednesday. 6:30 PM, Center School. Even if you choose not to speak, your presence can make a difference!
This is for our incredible music educators and their students—who deserve the same quality music education as I had.
All my love and thanks,
Sarah Goldin
