Lee County, To the 13 of you who have signed on to this effort over the past few days Thank You! I wanted you to know of 4 ways over the next month you can help us bring attention to this issue, gain support for our efforts, and ultimately force the County Commissioners to reject this plan on September 20th. First our petition is likely to be profiled by Wink News early next week. Second there is a Board of County Commissioners meeting on September 6th @ 930am @ the Old Lee County Courthouse Commission Chambers 2120 Main Street Fort Myers, FL 33901. As I understand it LeeTran will not be an agenda item at this meeting. However as I did last week I will speak during public comments at the end of that meeting. I will read our petition to the Commission and inform them how many signatures we have collected to that point. Please come and speak out yourself or atleast stand up while our petition is read. On September 14th the North Fort Myers CIVIC ASSOCIATION @ North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 3000 N. Recreation Park Way Rooms 104A&B from 6-9pm will be hosting a "Meet the Candidates" forum. Lee County Commission District 5 is up for re-election this November. District 5 represents Lehigh Acres which is not represented in LeeTrans report. Both the current Commissioner Frank Mann and his Democratic opponent Diane Zigrossi will be there and have an opportunity to speak and take questions. Diane Zigrossi has LeeTran as one of her 3 top priorities on her website: http://www.dzleecountydist5.com/En-Espaniol.html I have heard her speak on this issue several times. She herself stands with us having signed right along with us and no matter where you live in Lee County you can VOTE for her this November. This will also be an opportunity to ask Frank Mann to take a position on this issue. Lastly I am getting some business cards printed up with our petition address to pass out at some of LeeTrans major transit hubs (Rosa Parks, Edison Mall ect) and to pass out at these events to people who want to join with us.
