Organic foods are free from growth hormones and anti-biotics; which are safer for the hens and the humans consuming these products. These medications also end up in waterways through waste products, which pollute water systems and disrupt the reproductive cycles of fish.

Also, although many people view livestock strictly as food, they are as alive and conscience as us. Just because they will be used to produce food products, does not relieve us of the responsibility to give them a quality of life.

Our society needs more EMPATHY. How would you like to be shoved into a cage just big enough to lift your head, never seeing sunlight, never getting to stretch your legs, and never getting to interact with others around you. It is certainly not much to ask to provide these animals with a quality of life. Look at your pet, or even your children, would you wish such a life upon them?
