Tell Ken Ivory NO to HB 505

The Issue

This law clearly targets and undermines community cat caretakers and owners. If this law is allowed to pass any stranger can trap your domestic or community cat and simply take it to animal control and allege that they felt that their property was in jeopardy and Animal Control would have the unchallenged authority to euthenize.

HB 505 would give Animal Control officers the unilateral authority to kill community and domestic animals, without making contact to caretakers and owners, solely based on the grounds of “a threat to property or other domestic animals”. This law does not require any substantiating proof be provided by the person making the report and should not be allowed to become State Law.

This bill is currently being voted on in the Utah state house and senate and is flying through favorably!
