Tell H-E-B: Hire Texans First and Protect Texas Standards
The Issue
H-E-B has long been seen as a Texas institution— built by and for the people of this state.
But recent decisions raise serious concerns about who the company is truly prioritizing. H-E-B has filed dozens of H-1B visa applications, bringing in foreign workers for corporate roles while qualified American graduates and veterans are being overlooked.
At the same time, H-E-B is expanding halal-certified meat products across Texas stores, signaling a shift in product offerings that does not reflect the values and preferences of many longtime Texas customers.
Texans built H-E-B. Texans should not be sidelined by it.
Customers deserve transparency, accountability, and a company that puts its own communities first— not one that replaces American workers or rapidly shifts to accommodate outside standards.
We are calling on H-E-B to:
- Prioritize hiring American workers, including Texas graduates and veterans
- Be fully transparent about its use of the H-1B visa program
- Ensure product decisions reflect the communities it serves
