Tell Gov. Martinez Not to Scrap Dairy CAFO Regulations

The Issue

Last year New Mexico's state legislature adopted new regulations to help keep dairy factory farms from polluting the state's water. Currently  90 percent of ground water near dairy factory farms is polluted. The regulations were scheduled to go into effect this year when they were published in the register. 

The incoming Republican Governor, Susana Martinez has ordered the new regulations not to be published, essentially nullifying the law because it will never officially go in to effect. It is an underhanded way for her to circumvent the law and co-opt years of hard work and carefully crafted policy. 

Governor Martinez's actions threaten New Mexico's water supply for the benefit of a few factory farm owners. Tell her it is not right to skirt the law like this. She must allow the regulation to be implemented immediately.
