Tell Florida: Stop your war on free speech and expression!
The Issue
Florida's AG has recently launched a lawsuit against Segpay, Nutaku and other payment processing platforms, claiming they had not enacted proper age verification on their sites. Florida's tyrannical age verification measures have contributed to the current AV minefield on the Internet, choosing to interpret the Supreme Court's flawed ruling on AV laws as loosely as it pleases. This could result in several payment options being blocked or removed from sites, leaving the big players and monopolies to exploit as many people as they please. The intent was never to protect children, but to enact sweeping bans on content the government dislikes and kneecap adult creators financially. This also creates a jawboning effect by allowing government officials to declare something that they disagree with as being a threat to children when children aren't even the intended audience for the content hosted by sites like Steam and Itch.io, who were and still are recent victims of payment processing censorship.
These alternatives exist in the first place to help game devs, adult creators, artists, writers, journalists and people who don't have access to traditional banks and mainstream processors due to laws like Florida's.
It's time to stop this behavior by errant AGs and government officials who think fiction is a greater threat to children than guns, diseases, deportations, or grooming. Tell Florida to repeal its disastrous AV laws, fire the AG and rescind this lawsuit!
