Plastic pollution is a huge problem affecting all ecosystems, but our oceans and waterways are especially susceptible. Plastics are poisoning the water we drink, killing wildlife through entanglement or ingestion, and ultimately affecting us throughout the food chain. Here are just a few shocking facts about the extent of the problem:

-80% of all marine debris is land-based, and 80-90% is plastic.

-Currently 90% of all seabirds have ingested plastic, and by 2050 virtually every seabird will have consumed it.

-By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.

-In the United States we throw away enough plastic straws to fill up Yankee Stadium over 9 times a year; that's about 500 million straws a day, or enough to wrap around the circumference of the Earth 2.5 times.

I live in Corvallis, a college town in Oregon with several Dutch Bros locations in close proximity. I see a lot of plastic straws used and then thrown on the ground or into a trash can where they can still potentially end up in rivers or oceans. I care deeply about wildlife and their habitats, and I know a lot of other Oregonians do as well. Please sign this petition to help keep our planet healthy and beautiful. Tell Dutch Bros to switch to paper straws!
