PLEASE COME: TODAY, NOV 3 , "DROP IN" 5:30 - 7:30 , STAPLETON REC CENTER, 5090 BROADWAY, DENVER Denver is doing two belatedly organized "drop ins" , to finally tell the neighbors in Cole, Globeville, Swansea, Elyria, Park Hill, Whittier etc. ... very quietly...that they could be impacted by contamination from I 70 Vasquez superfund site... just days before Denver is scheduled to start digging in these sites. The EPA Citizens Involvement Plan Handbook seems to PROMISE a lot more... months more...of outreach in different languages.. education about the contaminants and health risks of arsenic and lead, etc. EPA is supposed to over see this program that should be to be a lengthy two way conversation between agnecy and neighbors about concerns and plans. The EPA even promises funding for independent technical advisors for neighbors. WHAT HAPPENED ? IS THE EPA LOOKING OUT FOR US? DOES DNEVER, OWNER OF THE LAND , HAVE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST? WHY A TIME CRITICAL REMOVAL? WHAT'S THE RUSH? WHAT'S THE DANGER? IS THE ONLY "DANGER" DENVER'S NEED TO PROVIDE CDOT WITH A DRAINAGE PIPE FOR I 70 CONSTRUCTION? I 70 isn't even approved yet by the feds. THE Community Involvement Plan says that citizens must come first.
