Boxes of tissues found in CVS' trash this past week. Again, employees are not allowed to take home unwanted merchandise; they are ordered to throw it out and must obey. In addition, a lot of times the corporations order employees to intentionally destroy (slash) merchandise before they throw it out so no one can use it. Luckily that didn't happen here.
I also want to add that this issue is not limited to CVS. Across the US (and globally!) corporations throw out excess merchandise as a way to "manage" it. These corporations include Walgreens, Game Stop, Staples, Bath and Body Works, Big Lots, Five Below, Ulta, Petsmart, Dollar Tree, and Office Max.
I'm hoping to make change at CVS, and then go from there. All these corporations should stop intentionally throwing out usable goods. They should donate them and/or allow employees to take them.
