Under their parent company Procter & Gamble, Cover Girl is one of the largest companies conducting animal testing in the United States.

Procter & Gamble states that they’ve discontinued animal testing on 80% of their products.

But what about the remaining 20%?

Cover Girl still uses the outdated Lethal Dose 50 (LD50) test in testing their cosmetics. This involves the administration of a substance (in this case, make-up) to a group of animals at increasing doses. This continues until the experimenters reach a dose that kills 50 percent of the test subjects. The substance is often administered to the animal through a tube inserted into the stomach.

There are many other make-up companies that refuse to test their products on animals, why does Cover Girl continue to perform these cruel and meaningless tests?
