It is the 1st responder firemen whose lives are at risk everyday as well as millions of people around the world. Hundreds of Millions of homes have ionization fire alarms that do not detect smoldering smoke resulting in either smoke inhalation deaths or severe burn injuries everyday of the week. The majority of people are not aware of this danger because unlike cigarettes there is no warning label on ionization alarm packaging and being the Red Cross and United Way install them without disclosing the danger, people assume they must work to protect their family. Please help bring and end to the use of these dangerous ionization devices by signing the petition to let the Red Cross and United Way know they need to stop installing these dangerous devices and that they have the duty of care to install the safer far more reliable photoelectric / heat alarms and to warn the public around the world concerning the danger of these often deadly ionization alarms. Over 1300 of you signed this petition so far with over 100 comments made which were sent to both Red Cross and United Way last week. Unfortunately they have not responded and have not done the right thing. Please help put the needed pressure on them as we did on the Congress and Senate with the Zadroga petition which gained 186,995 signatures and 1000's of comments that brought the petition to victory.
