Tell Comedy Central: Amy Poehler is the best choice as next host for The Daily Show!

While we are heartbroken that Jon Stewart is stepping down as The Daily Show host, he has earned that right after providing us with almost two decades of insightful, honest reporting. We will particualrly miss his rare ability to use satire as a means to hold soapbox mongers accountable. The Daily Show has, without equal, the best research team in broadcast media.

But now it's the time for some new blood. And what better vein to tap than Amy Poehler.

A brilliant feminist and satirist, Amy's skillful use of irony to report real-life "news" and events is best represented by her co-hosting of SNL's Weekend Update and the Emmys. Amy would also be a welcome perspective in a late-night landscape currently dominated by men. Think of her as a sober Chelsea Handler with a grasp of world politics.

Given Amy's hit show "Parks and Recreation" has finished filiming its final season, the powers-that-be at Comedy Central would be wise to sieze upon her availability, and make the right choice: Amy Poehler as the new host for The Daily Show.
