Tell Citi: Don’t Cave to Political Pressure. Stand By Your Gun Safety Policy.
The Issue
Citigroup just backed down from a commonsense gun safety policy. One it adopted after the Parkland school shooting to help keep dangerous weapons out of the wrong hands.
For years, Citi refused to work with businesses that sold firearms to people under 21 or offered deadly accessories like bump stocks. Now, under political pressure from Donald Trump and pro-gun extremists, they’ve reversed course.
This is unacceptable.
Citi once said this wasn’t about politics, it was about doing the right thing. But the moment powerful politicians started barking, they folded. Backtracking on safety to appease political bullies puts lives at risk and shows cowardice, not leadership.
We demand that Citigroup reinstate its 2018 gun policy and stop caving to political threats. Protecting public safety shouldn’t be negotiable.
If Citi truly cares about doing what’s right, they must prove it now.
