Tell Capcom to Stop Censoring their games (and patch the ones they censored to restore art
The Issue
(Update: sales for Onimusha 2 are apparently in the crapper! Theu should have listened to the gamers and left it be!)
The video gaming company "Capcom" has been doing a lot of censoring as of late. From the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 (link for the source: https://boundingintocomics.com/video-games/capcom-to-censor-capcom-fighting-collection-2-will-alter-some-stage-visuals-and-certain-visuals-during-the-story-of-featured-titles/ to the upcoming Onimussha 2 Remastered (image below)
The question is this: who is this censorship for? Doing these changes is not only unecessary, but it just seems...wrong.
Back then, video game art never hurt anyone. The sexual content in games was also one of the best things about video gaming. Theu are all just fantasy, and it was always a great bonus to unlock and view. But now with more remasters and remakes, more art that depicts a beautiful woman seems to be covered up (literally) so that some gamers would not be upset. This is how companies that support censorship works: they take what was fun in the past and destroy it because they find it unacceptable. The real question is this: when is this enough?
A good example of this is another Capcom game: The Resident Evil 3 Remake. They added the classic Jill Valentine Costume as a unlock, but they still put shorts underneath in case there was a upskirt view. Like, so what? Nothing is wrong with a little fanservice.
More examples are two characters in one game: Street Fighter 5! You adjusted the camera to avoid R. Mika's "butt slap" before doing her supermove as well as editing Juri Han's outfit to make it less "revealing". Seriously, would have been the harm in leaving it be?
Many people would say "that's just gooner talk". Its not a Gooner thing (I don't even know why they use that word as a weapon), this is about freedom of speech and art. No one wants to have their hard work covered up because someone is afraid they will he upset. Don't view it or play the game if that's the case. But don't ruin it for anyone else.
And I know when corrupted censorship occurs, it results to the gaming companies getting in trouble or shutting down.
We gamers (like myself) are tired of censorship and pandering to a small (pissibly non existent) group, and we are asking Capcom to fix all the artwork images and gameplay that they have erased via patches. Especially with the upcoming Onimusha 2 remaster. These scenes were harmless. And everyone in the world seems to forget that "Sex Sells". Its always been that way.
So please, everyone sign this petition and let Capcom hear our voices! Stop with catering to this small percentage of "gamers" who are pretending to be easily offended! There is time, Capcom! The people behind the Tomb Raider Remastered Collection Uncensored the images of Lara Croft. Please, do the same!
Sign, myself and every gamer in the world!
