Tell board of directors to leave the cat's feeding schedule & food alone until relocation
The Issue
As shared in the email to you we need your support by equity members signing this petition. The documents that were attached to the email provide the details including why it is imperitive the cats feeding be left alone.
Since our letter to the board on 12.14, also attached in email, exactly what we feared happened, we had placement for one cat and had to go back three times before she showed up.
As mentioned in the documents the proposed plan by the board would lead to cruel, inhumane treatment of cats most members didn’t know existed. (please see documents provided for details.)
Our conscience could not live with the fact these sentient beings were going to suddenly have their feeding drastically changed both in terms of food type and frequency. It's also not just about providing sustenance; it is also a matter of efficiency for trappers who rely on consistent feeding times to capture them.
Shelters & Rescues are overwhelmed and relocating the cats by the board's deadline is daunting and by interferring with the feeding, it is setting us up to fail. According to estimates by animal welfare organizations, there are hundreds of thousands homeless cats across California (source: Humane Society). Many rely on compassionate individuals and organized efforts for their survival.
We urge the Board to rescind its directive and allow members & staff to continue feeding canned cat food to these homeless felines at RCC as they have been doing for over 2 years. Let us show kindness towards these creatures who depend on our compassion for their survival and ensure the successful trapping when new locations have been found.
Please sign this petition urging the Board Directors at RCC to reconsider their decision and allow continued support for our local feline friends.
