Tell Amblin Partners and Universal Pictures not to support mistreatment of working animals
The Issue
Thanks to an article and extremely unsettling video produced by TMZ, the world was introduced to the mistreatment of the "stars" of the upcoming movie " A Dogs Purpose".
The video shows a German Shepherd being forced into rapid moving water in an effort to shoot a scene the dog was clearly not comfortable with. There was extreme movement in the water that TMZ reports was caused by outboard motors to churn the water and produce the desired effect.
After the handler forces the terrified German Shepherd into the water after he endlessly tries to claw his way back onto the side, he's washed to the bottom of the display where he is forced under by the "effects" of the motors and his handlers rush to pull him to the surface. At that time, you hear multiple staff and crew members telling the boaters to "cut it" so the dog doesn't drown.
The way these individuals, professional movie staff and animal handlers mistreated this animal on camera and who knows how many off camera should be a punishable act, and the movie should be terminated.
I, along with many people who have seen the video, are extremely irate and refuse to financially support this mistreatment by seeing this movie. I'm hoping this petition will stop this movie from hitting theaters and some disciplinary action should come to those who clearly abused these dogs for the sake of a dollar.
